Community Interest Statement for New Start MK CIC
New Start MK CIC is a not-for-profit organisation founded by residents of Milton Keynes to support and empower East African immigrants as they integrate into the local community.
Our mission is to connect, educate, and support individuals and families by providing practical resources, community engagement, and access to essential services. We believe that by starting small and growing sustainably, we can create long-term opportunities that benefit the community as a whole.
Our key areas of focus include:
- Community Workshops & Support Groups – Regular sessions covering English language learning, employment skills, housing advice, financial management, and cultural integration. These workshops create a safe and welcoming space for people to learn and share experiences.
- Essential Resources & Guidance – A Community Directory providing information on housing, employment, legal advice, healthcare, and local services to help individuals navigate life in the UK.
- Affordable Community Shop – Selling low-cost second-hand clothing, toys, sportswear, and household essentials, ensuring families have access to affordable everyday items.
- Social & Cultural Events – Bringing people together through conversation groups, traditional coffee mornings, and networking sessions, helping to reduce isolation and strengthen community bonds.
Through these initiatives, New Start MK CIC aims to empower individuals, build strong connections, and create a supportive community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
